HOW IT STARTED
Hi I am Brandi, a registered mental health counselor and the founder of Lucid Mental Wellness Collective. Did you know that the prognosis for BPD improves over time? In fact, two years after treatment, about half of people diagnosed with BPD no longer meet the diagnostic criteria, and 10 years after diagnosis, 88% of individuals do not meet the criteria for diagnosis. I am one of those individuals.
I’ve been in remission for 3 years now, and I’d be lying if I said it was an easy journey. After being diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder in 2016 I was blessed to find a good therapist and go through life changing inpatient treatment that helped redefine my reality and taught me the importance of community healing. As the years went on, I realized that I would need maintenance but not for $2,000 per month for outpatient treatment and $20,000 per month for inpatient treatment. Once I discovered the inspiring & humorous pages on BPD I felt community but I didn't feel connected.
As a therapist it was hard to collaborate to discover more effective ways of treating this disorder due to bias, misunderstanding, being ill-informed and lack of experience. I created this healing circle as a safe space to find support and connect with individuals going through the unique and often isolating experience of living with BPD.
You are not alone, I hear you, I see you, I am you. This group serves as a safe space for people healing from this disorder, and a collaborative experience where we advocate and bring awareness to this disorder. In this group, we will connect through our unique experiences, and create a stronger community. Here we will foster empowerment, autonomy, and discover different ways of creating a life worth living.
